I want to talk about Alex Ross.

Until I started collecting again this year I didn’t know who he was…specifically. Keep in mind, I stopped collecting in 1996. I do remember the Marvels series up on the shelf at the shop, but I was not big on Marvel*.

Early in this, my collecting renaissance, I was on What Not and I saw a run of villain portrait covers on the block. The grit in them, the realism of them. I started collecting the Alex Ross Timeless covers that night. Over this year I’ve come to realize that he has always been one of my favorite artists. I now grab every Ross cover I come across.

The thing is, the first back issue I ever bought was Terminator: The Burning Earth #1; Alex Ross’ first book! How fucking key is that!
